The Yellow Wallpaper has been curated by artist Tom Gallant and is centred on ‘Dress 09’ – a dress made in collaboration with fashion designer Marios Schwab that was acquired for the Crafts Council Collection in 2011. Its intricately cut surface and multiple layers prompted an investigation into the story behind its making.
Viewers of the exhibition can flick through Chinese papercuts, watch a piece from silhouette animator Lotte Reiniger’s 1926 film Prince Achmed, hear an interview with furniture maker Gareth Neal and see work in-depth by photographer Nick Waplington. And not forgetting, the beautifully crafted 'Dress 09', viewed in 360˚ rotation.
